Registration open - MCMI Summer 2017 Institutes

Registration is now open for the MCMI Summer 2017 Mathematics Institutes for K–12 educators, Motivation Matters in Mathematics.

The institute will include a keynote speaker, core sessions focused on principals of motivation, classroom environment, and instructional strategies, and choice sessions to accommodate the needs of a broad audience of learners.

WHO should attend: Teachers of mathematics and administrators in grades K–12. 

 

Teachers will work in grade-band groups on core issues of mathematics teaching.

Teachers can also select breakout sessions based on their interests, contexts, and prior experience. Teachers either new to or experienced with our work are encouraged to attend.  (Please ensure that you have district approval prior to registering.)

 

Administrators can attend special workshops immediately following the keynote speakers’ addresses. Administrators interested in working with teacher groups are also welcome to do so.

 

WHEN/WHERE: The two-day institute will be offered twice, with different keynote speakers.

 

Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22

Keynote Speaker: Matthew Larson, President of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics

Location: Oak Park and River Forest High School, Oak Park, IL

 

Tuesday, August 1 and Wednesday, August 2

Keynote Speaker: Margaret (Peg) Smith, Professor of Instruction and Learning in the School of Education, and Senior Scientist at the Learning Research and Development Center, University of Pittsburgh

Location: Colin Powell Middle School, Matteson, IL
