Connecting Writing and Learning as Situated Practice

Ann Feldman, Department of English (UIC) (Click name for speaker's biography)
Monday, October 22, 2007
12 - 1 PM, 1007 W. Harrison Street, Room 2019 BSB

Informal Brown Bag Discussion

Ann Feldman is interested in exploring the teaching and learning of writing as a situated practice. What does it mean to write from within a situation and how can we best approach the teaching/learning/assessing of such activity? How does the activity of writing complicate notions of learning, which often depend on writing as a representational artifact or as a container for literal meaning? These questions drive our work in the Chicago Civic Leadership Certificate Program(CCLCP) in which first-year, UIC students write for and with community partners.

Please RSVP to colleenk@uic.edu by October 15 so we have appropriate space for the meeting.
