I See What You Know Pierre Dillenbourg; Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Click name for speaker's biography) Pierre Dillenbourg During collaborative learning, student A has to maintain some representation of what B knows, beliefs, intends to do, etc. This model may be neither detailed nor correct but some representation has to be elaborated and maintained. Do accurate mutual models lead to higher team performance or higher learning gains? Does mutual modeling trigger richer verbal interactions? If A builds an accurate model of B, does B tend to also be more accurate? Is modeling an individual skill or does it simply reflect the quality of dialogues? If a CSCL system informs A about B's knowledge, how does it affect learning? Five experiments will be reported that address these questions, including fresh results on the use of two synchronized eye tracking machines to look at new forms of collaboration patterns. If you would like to meet with Pierre, please respond to edagen@uic.edu. We welcome the participation of all members of the UIC Community.
