Learning with visualizations: Some implications for students' learning and some directions for Learning Sciences research. This talk will discuss data from past and present projects on learning with visualizations, such as simulations, and their affordances for students. A second major focus is to show how technologies used to study these processes have changed what we know about students’ learning. Janice Gobert is an Associate Professor of Learning Sciences and Psychology in the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies and the Department of Computer Science. Her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (1994) is in Cognitive Science. Her specialty is in technology-based learning. Prior to her position at WPI, she was Senior Research Scientist at the Concord Consortium (www.concord.org). If you would like to meet with the Janice, please respond to edagen@uic.edu.
