Dr. Beissinger was one of the first on campus to go through this process under the new LAS guidelines for promotion of research faculty. Similar to the promotion process for academic faculty, this involved a rigorous review of her research and other contributions by both internal and external reviewers and her case had to be supported at the department, college, and university levels.

Not only is this an honor for Dr. Beissinger personally, but it is also very important for IMSE & LSRI more generally. It shows that the college and university recognize and support the kind of work being done here, which is often outside of traditional definitions of academic scholarship.
